Hi, I’m Henry and I am one of the Head Boys.

My journey at Bickley Park Prep is almost coming to an end and I am really looking forward to my last term here, especially the entertainment evening taking place on the 12th of June and the Year 8 trip to Cornwall in July. The entertainment evening will be an opportunity for all of Year 8 to perform in front of their classmates and parents and I am personally looking forward to playing my electric guitar – loudly!

Like a lot of the Year 8 boys, I recently visited my next school Sedbergh, in Cumbria where I am going to be a full-time boarder.

I stayed in the boarding house for 2 nights [which was also my Dad’s] and had a lot of FUN with the Year 9 boys. I attended the same lessons as I do at BPS but also a classics class which is a mixture of literature, history, philosophy, languages and archaeology of the ancient Greek and Roman worlds and Saturday school!

The best part was taking part in the rugby training and running up a fell [mountain] for a games lesson. The school is well known for its sportsman including 4 British Lions and Harry Brook who plays for the England Cricket Team – I am really looking forward to becoming a Sedberghian!

Looking back to last term, on the 17th of March the school took part in the Comic Relief Lego Challenge and the Prep was invited to wear something red to school and make a £1 donation to the charity. It was fun to see so many of the boys wearing red items of clothing along with their uniform.

The challenge was for the boys to take part in a brilliant LEGO building competition where we had to use our imagination to build something that would make someone smile and have a positive impact on the world.

The creation had to be built out of LEGO and could also use cardboard, modelling clay, playdoh, drawings or other creative resources to enhance the design. We could work independently or as a group of friends to design and build an inspiring creation. It had to be something that helps to support the environment and nature, reduces loneliness, or improves accessibility for those with mobility issues. It was great fun to take part in with our friends and be in with a chance of winning £1,500 worth of LEGO Bricks for school AND a virtual visit from the author Giovanna Fletcher.

Here is a Lego creation from Ayansh in Year 3.

Fingers crossed!

Henry
